Lovers Leap Loose Leaf Tea by PMD Tea, with complex, fragrant, refreshing and sweet flavours is grown at 6000ft above elevation in Ceylon’s (Sri Lanka) champagne tea making district of Nuwara Eliya.

The estate is home not only to tea, but the abundance of eucalyptus, cypress trees and wild mint bushes give the air a pleasant mentholated fragrance, creating an unmistakable flavour, perfect on its own or with lemon flavoured desserts.

Lovers’ Leap Loose Leaf Tea Estate Ceylon

Lovers Leap teas are reputed for their delicate and elegant characteristics. The high elevation, combined with the wild fresh mint and eucalyptus give seasonal teas from Lovers Leap a minty tangy flavour. Due to the high elevation and cold climate, the tea absorbs the fragrances and when infused it bears a luminous gold colour.

The flavours are therefore bright, crisp and clean – a perfect choice for an impressive cuppa.

Legend and The Royal Connection

Lovers Leap Tea Estate is steeped in tradition and legend. The estate gets its name from the waterfall that is on the plantation. Legend has it that a Sri Lankan prince fell in love with a fair maiden and eloped to the area of Nuwara Eliya. When the King’s men were dispatched to find the Prince and bring him back to the palace, he and his lover jumped from the waterfall.

The estate has kept its Royal connection over the years. In 1954 the Duke of Edinburgh visited the estate to open the new tea factory. On the visit, the Duke took to planting a field of tea bushes. In 2012 for HM Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee, Lovers Leap Tea was the only tea served at all state banquets.
