Time to read: 1.5 mins
Location: Intercontinental hotel, by the O2 arena, London
Purpose: Relaxation, chilling out
Set inside the luxury intercontinental hotel, the intercontinental spa certainly continues in that same vein of luxury. Staff are friendly and welcoming and show you fully round all facilities upon arrival.
I started my day on a lounger, relaxing by the pool and jacuzzi with a book. The environment is peaceful and not at all busy, perfect for reading. The pool is long enough to get a decent workout in, so a few lengths were done in between drinks breaks and lounging! The jacuzzi boasts several powerful jet massagers, only takes 30 seconds standing under one of those to relieve tight shoulders!
The massage treatments at this spa are brilliant; rooms are dimly lit with comfortable beds. I had the pregnancy massage which was excellent; effective and relaxing. The therapists offer all types of massage over a range of times so there is something to suit most budgets.
Following treatments, you can relax in the relaxation lounge, where there is a range of herbal teas and light snacks provided as complimentary. All snacks are wholesome and healthy, nuts and dried fruits, perfect for keeping you feeling light and relaxed throughout the day. For those wanting a more substantial lunch, there is a restaurant within the hotel, just outside the spa facilities but unfortunately this food cannot be delivered into the spa, meaning you would have to get changed before going to eat there.
The spa also boasts a sauna and steam room as well as piles of crushed ice just outside these rooms to cool off afterwards. Or for a bit of contrast therapy if you want a musculoskeletal flush out!
Overall a great experience, fairly priced with brilliant facilities. A decent spa for a relaxing, pampering or catching up with friends.
